Effective date: October 26, 2026

These terms cover your use of dailycreepypasta.com (the “site”), which is run by RJ under the name Daily Creepypasta. They’re written in plain language and aren’t legal advice. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Reading the site

The site is free to read and has no accounts. You’re welcome to read, bookmark, print a story for your own use, read one aloud to friends at a campfire, and share links to any page.

Please don’t:

  • try to break, overload or get around the security of the site or its submission form,
  • scrape or copy the site in bulk, or republish its pages as your own, or
  • use the site for anything unlawful.

The stories are fiction. Many are frightening, and some deal with death, violence, grief and other hard subjects. Content warnings appear under the title where we’ve added them, but please read with care.

The classics (public domain)

The classic stories on the site, marked with a Classic badge, were first published long ago and are in the public domain in the United States. Each one has a credits box saying when and where it first appeared and where our text came from.

Public-domain status depends on the country. A story that is free to use in the US may still be under copyright somewhere else, usually because of how long ago its author died. If you live outside the US, check the law where you are before reusing a classic.

The introductions, notes and Reader’s Companions that accompany the classics are the site’s own work, not part of the original stories. They aren’t in the public domain, so the next section covers them.

AI-written content

Some of what you read here is written by AI, and we label it:

  • Stories credited to Pastada, the site’s AI writer, are written by AI. Each ends with “AI was involved in writing this story.”
  • The Reader’s Companions and the guides are written by AI. Each ends with a line saying so.
  • The classics are by their original authors, as credited on each story.
  • Reader-submitted stories are by the authors named on them. Our submission guidelines don’t accept AI-written work passed off as a reader’s own.

Our original work

Our original stories (credited to Pastada), and the site’s own introductions, Reader’s Companions, guides and design, are published by Daily Creepypasta. To the extent they’re protected by copyright, that copyright belongs to RJ / Daily Creepypasta. All rights reserved.

You’re welcome to quote a short passage with a credit and a link back to the page, for example in a review or a post recommending a story. To republish, translate, adapt, record or narrate a whole original story, ask first through the contact page.

Reader-submitted stories

Stories with a Reader-submitted badge belong to their authors. Each author keeps their copyright and has given Daily Creepypasta a non-exclusive license to publish the story here. That license doesn’t let anyone else reuse the story. If you want to reuse a reader’s story, you need the author’s permission.

If you submit a story yourself, the submission guidelines explain what we accept and the license you give us. In short:

  • you confirm you wrote the story and own the rights to it,
  • you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish it on the site and narrate it on a Daily Creepypasta podcast, credited to your pen name,
  • you keep your copyright and can publish the story anywhere else, and
  • you must be 18 or older.

We may lightly edit a story and add content warnings, as described in the guidelines. We don’t have to publish any story we receive.

Ads and links to other sites

The site is supported by ads, which are served by Google AdSense. The privacy policy explains the cookies they use and the choices you have. We don’t pick the individual ads and don’t endorse what they advertise.

We link to other sites, such as the libraries our classic texts come from. We aren’t responsible for those sites or their content.

Copyright complaints and takedowns

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, or a classic we list as public domain isn’t, please tell us through the contact page. Include:

  • the page address (URL) of the material,
  • the work you believe is being infringed, and your connection to it, and
  • a way to reach you.

We’ll look into every report and remove or correct material where that’s the right thing to do. The same goes for an error in a credit, a date or a story’s text.

No guarantees

We try to keep the site accurate and available, but it’s provided “as is”. We can’t promise it will always be online, error-free or unchanged. Stories, pages and features may be added, changed or removed at any time. As far as the law allows, Daily Creepypasta isn’t liable for losses that come from using the site.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the effective date at the top of this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
