Daily Creepypasta publishes one horror story every night. Some are originals written by AI under the name Pastada, and some are public-domain classics with full credits and a Reader’s Companion. There are hundreds in the archive now, so here’s where to begin.
Ten stories to start with
Six classics and four stories by Pastada, chosen to show the range of the site. None of the descriptions spoil the endings.
- Mujina. . A merchant on a lonely Tokyo slope at night finds a young woman crying by the moat. The shortest story on the site, and one of the best.
- The Monkey's Paw. . Three wishes, one dried paw, and a family that can’t resist. The great “be careful what you wish for” story.
- The Other Half. . The other half of the duplex has been empty for eleven years. Every night, through the wall, a couple rehearses tomorrow’s conversation.
- The Signal-Man. . A lonely railway cutting, a signalman, and a figure by the tunnel mouth. Often called the best ghost story Dickens wrote.
- Notes for the Subletter. . A summer sublet comes with a typed page of notes from the tenant. Most of them are about the radiator.
- “Oh, Whistle, and I’ll Come to You, My Lad”. . A professor on a seaside holiday finds an old whistle and blows it. The M. R. James story that taught readers to fear an empty bed.
- Self-Guided Tour. . An audio tour of a house museum preserved exactly as the family left it in 1891. Enter the number posted in each room.
- The Yellow Wallpaper. . A young wife ordered to rest in a rented country house begins to study the wallpaper in her room.
- Home Inspection Report, 18 Tamarack Lane. . A pre-purchase inspection of a 1962 Cape in coastal Maine. The basement stairs have fourteen steps going down and thirteen coming up.
- The Willows. . Two friends canoeing down the Danube camp on a tiny island of willows. Lovecraft’s favourite weird story, and the one to save for a long night.
