Effective date: October 25, 2026

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit dailycreepypasta.com (the “site”), which is run by RJ under the name Daily Creepypasta. It’s written in plain language. It isn’t legal advice.

The short version

  • The site has no accounts, sign-ups or comments. The only form is the optional story submission form, which is covered below.
  • Like almost every website, our host keeps standard server logs.
  • The site may show ads from Google and other advertising partners. They use cookies, as described below.

Advertising and cookies

The site uses, or may use, Google AdSense to show ads. In connection with those ads:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

If you choose not to receive personalized ads, you may still see ads, but they won’t be based on your interests. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Where the law requires it (for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland), you’ll be asked for your consent before personalized ads or the cookies behind them are used. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

The site itself doesn’t set its own cookies or use any tracking or analytics scripts of its own.

Fonts

The site’s fonts (Cormorant Garamond and Spectral) are hosted on our own server. Loading them doesn’t send any request to Google Fonts or other font services.

Server logs

Our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when any page is requested: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser’s user-agent string. These logs are used to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse, and they’re kept only for as long as the host retains them. We don’t use them to identify individual visitors.

Story submissions

If you send us a story through the submission form, we receive:

  • Your story, its title, your pen name and any content warnings you add. We store these privately so we can review your story. If we publish it, the story appears under your pen name.
  • Your email address, if you choose to give one. It’s stored privately alongside your story and used only to contact you about that story. It’s never published, never shared and never added to a mailing list.
  • Your confirmations. These are your answers to the three checkboxes: that you wrote the story and own the rights, that you agree to the license, and that you’re 18 or older.

To stop spam, the form uses your IP address temporarily. It counts how many times a connection has submitted recently, so it can enforce the daily limit. We don’t store the address itself, only a scrambled (hashed) version of it, which is cleared out after about 24 hours. We also keep a fingerprint of each story’s text for 30 days, so a story accidentally sent twice is only saved once.

Submissions are stored in a private folder on our web host that can’t be reached from the web, and are copied to RJ’s computer for reading. When a story is submitted, a notification email containing your details is sent to the site’s own inbox. Stories we don’t publish may be deleted at any time. If you’d like your submission or your email address removed, write to us through the contact page.

Email

If you email us from the contact page, we’ll see your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to reply to you, and we don’t share it or add it to any mailing list.

RSS feed

If you subscribe to the RSS feed, your feed reader fetches it like any other page, and that request appears in the server logs. We don’t know who subscribes.

Children

The site is meant for a general adult audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Links to other sites

Stories and commentary sometimes link to other websites, for example the source of a public-domain text. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we’re not responsible for them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top.
