Submission Guidelines
Daily Creepypasta publishes reader stories alongside our own originals and the classics. If you’ve written something that belongs here, we’d love to read it. When you’re ready, use the submission form.
What we’re looking for
- Original horror and creepypasta. Slow dread, wrong details, things half-seen. Quiet horror suits the site best, but we read everything.
- Between 500 and 20,000 words. Most of our stories run 1,500 to 5,000 words, but anything in that range is welcome.
- Your own work. You must have written it yourself and own the rights to it.
- Finished, readable prose. Plain text is fine. Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
Stories you’ve already posted on your own blog or a forum are fine, as long as you still own the rights.
What we don’t accept
- Fan fiction using copyrighted characters or worlds.
- Stories about real, identifiable people.
- Hateful content that attacks people for who they are.
- Any sexual content involving minors. This will never be published, and the story will be discarded.
- Plagiarism: anything copied, wholly or in part, from someone else’s work.
- Work written by AI that’s passed off as your own.
The license, in plain words
When you submit, you confirm that you wrote the story and own the rights, and you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- publish it on dailycreepypasta.com, and
- narrate it on a Daily Creepypasta podcast,
always credited to your pen name.
You keep your copyright. “Non-exclusive” means you’re free to publish the story anywhere else, before or after it appears here. “Royalty-free” means we don’t pay for submissions, and you don’t pay us anything either. You must be 18 or older to submit.
Light editing and content warnings
We may lightly edit a story before publishing it, for example to fix typos, spelling or formatting. We won’t change your plot or your voice. We may also add content warnings under the title, so readers know what’s coming.
What happens next
Every submission is read by a person, so reviews can take a while. We can’t publish every story we receive, and we can’t send feedback on each one. If you gave us an email address, we may write to you about your story. We use your email for nothing else and never publish it. If we choose your story, it appears on the site under your pen name with a Reader-submitted badge.
Please send each story only once, and no more than three a day. To learn what we do with the details you send, see the privacy policy.
